I've been an anime fan for 6 years now. My favorites are the Slayers series (it got me hooked), Ranma 1/2, Full Metal Panic and Love Hina. I went to Otakon (2003-2005), Manganext (06), Animenext (07), and volunteered at New York Anime Fest (07). I'm really into Harry Potter, Harry Potter fanfiction, and fantasy books like Dark Materials series. IF ANYONE IS GOING TO ANIMENEXT I'LL SEE YOU ALL THERE!
View all articles by Arthur DavidFans of the Ranma ½ series who are as disgruntled as I am at the “ending” of both the manga and anime series, now is the time to dig out your old copies of your mangas and DVDs. During the “It’s a Rumic World” exhibit, which started on July 30th and ends on August 11th in Ginza’s shopping district, a new Ranma ½ short was debuted. This is the first animation dealing with Ranma and his crew in over 12 years.
The short is based on the Akumu! Shun Min Kō (Nightmare! The Incense of Spring Sleep) chapter of the manga. For those who need a reminder the chapter can be found in volume 32, starting on page 150. For a brief summary/reminder of the chapter it deals with Happosai trying to use the Shun Min Kō on Ranma and Akane, which is guaranteed to make a person sleep all through the summer. Problem is he was only able to use it on Akane.
Earlier in July the new Inuyasha short “The Black Tessaiga” was reported to debut during the exhibit, which it has. During both screenings the seiyu of Ranma and Inuyasha, Kappei Yamaguchi, was at hand. For the screenings an opening sequence was made that included the characters from Urusei Yatsura, Ranma ½ and Inuyasha. Besides videos a life-sized recreation of Kyoko Otonashi’s apartment was made. Once of the most used objects in Ranma ½, a tea kettle, and the Tendo Dojo sign is also available for viewing. From Inuyasha a Torii gate and a Kirara sculpture is up for display as well.
All the people in Ginza seeing the exhibit are so lucky. The rest of us can only read about it on news articles.
