View all articles by Karen L. NewmanThis week on Guiding Light, several characters forgot that silence is golden. Most importantly, Dinah. She was always the smart and clever one, so I was shocked that she blabbed her role in Lizzie's kidnapping to a stranger who turned out to be Shayne Lewis. I like what the writers have done with him. He's edgier, not the goody-two-shoes of old. Jeff Branson is very talented. I look forward to seeing him with Marina.
Speaking of Marina, news of her and Mallet's impending marriage leaked everywhere, including Germany. I'm hoping that does in the pairing. They just don't have the on screen chemistry. I'd prefer Frank to be paired with Natalia, not Eleni. Jennifer Roszell is a good actress and I hope she stays on at the soap, just not with Frank.
Crystal Chappell was outstanding this week. She deserves an Emmy nod. Her giving up her deal with Galaxy when Decker overheard about her heart trouble was very emotional and gut-wrenching. I like that Olivia has a heart in more ways than one.
Comic relief abounded when Buzz found out about Coop and Beth. You'd think Beth would know better, but she alway followed her lust anyway, before thinking. The scene with Remy and his family was also funny. I didn't like how the writers left the storyline hanging after Monday's episode. The show's trying to showcase as many actors as possible, but it's harder for the fans to follow when storylines come and go, especilly when they aren't picked back up in a reasonable time.
I was annoyed at more blatent product placing. I hope it stops soon. That would make a great holiday present for fans.
