Fans have a chance to choose who ought to serve Barack Obama as the head of the yet to be created Department of Geek Affairs.

Out of a field of 64 entrants: the two Geekiest men await your endorsement.
Fans have a chance to choose who ought to serve Barack Obama as the head of the yet-to-be-created Department of Geek Affairs, courtesy of  Paul and Storm.

Although there's no guarantee when that position might be created, exactly, Joss Whedon and Wil Wheaton are the last men standing in a field that included Steve Wozniak, John Hodgman, Kevin Smith, Rick Moranis and many others.

The arguments are raging, though Whedon is ahead by a number of votes at this time.

The site says that the intended responsibilities of the winner would be to:

1. Advise the POTUS on matters concerning, affecting, and/or of interest to geeks (as well as nerds and similar constituencies);
2. Implement POTUS policies generated by first responsibility; and
3. Act as liaison on POTUS’ behalf between the greater U.S. geek community and other national and international stakeholders.
4. Not required to be a U.S. citizen, because we say so.

No deadline for final vote is noted, so as the old Chicago machine used to say, "Vote early and vote often!"
