Acclaimed comic series Y: The Last Man has been fast-tracked for a film adaptation by New Line, reports the Hollywood Reporter.  The comic by Brian K Vaugn and Pia Guerra will be adapted by D.J. Caruso and Carl Ellsworth, the same pairing who wrote "Disturbia."  J.C. Spink, Chris Bender and David Goyer will be producing the flick.

Y centers on the adventures of Yorick Brown, an amateur escape artist/magician who, along with his pet monkey Ampersand, are the sole survivors of a mysterious plague that eradicates every male mammal on the planet.  The comic shows the effects on human society suddenly bereft of half the population and how the survivors cope, as well as taking potshots at the "last man on Earth" trope.
