A few details have been leaked regarding the plot and characters from the new television series set in the Star Wars universe.  Aint It Cool News has a source claiming to have the inside scoop on what's what.  Early rumors of a setting between "Revenge of the Sith" and "A New Hope" seem to be true.  A heavy Imperial presence "will be everywhere in the new show - undercover operatives, Imperial Officers of all makes and ambitions, and nearly all of them will be afraid of Darth Vader."

The character list isn't firm yet, obviously, but some familiar faces and names are making an appearance.
Bib Fortuna, Jabba's majordomo what got Jedi mind-tricked, will be showing up with Oola the doomed dancing girl from the Big J's palace.  Plus, the hot potato that was the set of plans for the original Death Star will make an appearance, maybe even serving as the McGuffin to move the series.  A few Star Wars EU references came out, including relatives to Padme's family, a pod racer first met in Droids, and the father of a popular EU character.

The big news is not the plot so much as the emphasis.  The new show is supposed to be more character-driven than the movies were, with less "good guy / bad guy" play and more nuances to why characters do the things they do.  The action and advaneture will still be integral parts of the universe and the show, but expect a little more complexity as things unfold.
