This evening, comedian Stephen Colbert announced on his show The Colbert Report that he is running for President of the United States (with a few codicils).  Colbert says he only plans on running in his home state of South Carolina.  He intends to run in the primaries as both a Democrat and a Republican.  In his traditional deadpan style, Colbert announced on parent show The Daily Show that he was "officially considering" becoming a presidential candidate.  Half an hour later, he announced his candidacy on his own series.
Colbert took Comedy Central's pre-printed "Stewart/Colbert" and "Colbert/Stewart" bumper stickers and cut out Jon Stewart's name.

Colbert is well-known as a satirist, and better, as a fanboy.  He's a gamer, science fiction and fantasy fan, and all around one of Our People. (He also makes an awesome Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.)  We here at Firefox News salute Colbert's presidential run, and hope he lasts at least twenty-four hours in the news cycle.
