District 9 is not about aliens or how kick ass their guns are. Rather it is about people, about how bigotry can shape us, about how we can chose to see what we want to but in the end, it doesn't make it true.
Films by Quentin Tarantino usually involve gory images, over the top plots, and lots of cursing. Inglourious Basterds does not stray far from this formula. So if you’re in the market for senseless gore and a cheap laugh, then Inglourious Basterds satisfies on both accounts. It’s a Tarantino film, what more can you expect?
Book Review – Saturn’s Children by Charlie Stross

Rating:

A creative, witty science fiction novel by Charlie Stross, Saturn’s Children is quirky and full of its charm. The novel is comparatively lighter science fiction than the greats, Asimov and Heinlein, but presents us with a rare story told from the robot’s perspective. Stross depicts a bleak future for mankind, but at the same time, remains somewhat hopeful. Overall, Saturn’s Children was a fun read.
"(500) Days of Summer" touts itself as a story about love, not a love story. It’s a very fine distinction, one that’s perhaps not entirely accurate. The movie is memorable for its clever insights, especially about greeting cards, quirky remarks, and use of imagery. But as a story about love, it fails to say much of anything.

If you are a fan of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, than you'll love this 2009 remake. Unlike the first anime series, Brotherhood follows the storyline as written by Hiromu Arakawa down to the exact kanji. Brotherhood provides a more comprehensive account that flows better with what has already been provided.

Review – America’s Next Top Model Cycle 13 – Episodes 1-3

America’s Next Top Model is back and this season focused only on girls 5’7” and under. A new twist for the model show but lots of pretty much the same. Tyra is doing her weird bits, a mom contestant misses her daughter, and a drama queen hates her makeover.
All in all, the two hour premiere of Heroes was fairly average. The plot and writing is on par with the last few seasons, not quite reaching the pinnacle of the first season. It could be that the novelty of regular people having super powers has worn off and the story just isn’t that interesting anymore. They all have fantastic abilities and yet all they want is to be normal.
From director, Jonathan Mostow, who also gave us Terminator 3, comes the new science fiction film, Surrogates. Set eight years into the future, a brilliant scientist has given to mankind his greatest invention, a humanoid robot that can be mentally controlled by its operator. Modern day society is revolutionized as every day people utilizes robot surrogates in their daily activities instead of going out themselves.
Zombieland, directed by Ruben Fleischer, is a comic masterpiece of zombie lore. Set in our dismal future, a virus that turns perfectly normal people into ravenous cannibals infects the mass population. Zombieland is by no means a serious movie. It is not meant to be. If you’re looking for the next 28 Days or Resident Evil, look elsewhere.
